<a href="https://www.acquilanowinecellars.com" target="_blank">Acquilano Wine Cellars</a> occupies a tasting room and cellar on South Main Street in downtown Canandaigua, the most accessible stop on the <a href="https://upstate.tourismo.app/trails/canandaigua-lake-wine-trail" target="_blank">Canandaigua Lake Wine Trail</a> for visitors already in the city. Jim Acquilano, the owner and winemaker, uses a natural cellar where the ground provides passive cooling through the aging process. The portfolio includes both Acquilano's own Finger Lakes estate wines and a curated selection from other regional producers, alongside craft beer and bourbon. The tasting room is designed for conversation and extended visits, with bar seating, tables, and a lounge area in the back. Consistent reviews emphasize the accessibility of the tasting experience and the winemaker's presence on the floor. Open Thursday through Sunday; expanded hours on weekends.

Acquilano Wine Cellars

<a href="https://www.hometownwineco.com" target="_blank">Hometown Wine Company</a> operates from a restored historic carriage house at the north end of Naples village, steps from the main street and within walking distance of the grape pie shops. The winery focuses on small-production wines in a portfolio that skews mostly dry, with balanced reds and whites made from Finger Lakes-grown grapes. The tasting room is deliberately intimate, with a walk-in capacity of eight and a first-come, first-served format intended to keep the experience personal. Small bites are available to complement the tasting flight. Sara and Brian, the founders, draw consistent reviews for depth of hospitality and hands-on care. Hometown Wine Company joined the <a href="https://upstate.tourismo.app/trails/canandaigua-lake-wine-trail" target="_blank">Canandaigua Lake Wine Trail</a> in late 2025. Open Wednesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

<a href="https://www.facebook.com/grapepies/" target="_blank">Cindy's Pies</a> opened at 5 Academy Street in Naples in 1978, making it one of the oldest continuously operating pie shops in the region. The signature offering is the Concord grape pie in two crust variations: the traditional double-crust version and a crumble-top. Seasonal fruit pies rotate through the year alongside the grape, drawing on local farm sourcing for strawberries, peaches, and cherries when in season. The current owners, Matt and Lisa Drumheller-Cadrette, have operated Cindy's since 2019, including a salted maple tart using syrup from Wohlschlegels Naples Maple Farm. Lines during the September <a href="https://naplesgrapefest.org/" target="_blank">Naples Grape Festival</a> extend around the block. Open Thursday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. year-round; closed Monday through Wednesday.

Cindy's Pies

<a href="https://www.monicaspies.com" target="_blank">Monica's Pies</a> occupies a retail shop on Route 21 between Bristol Mountain and Naples village, open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. year-round. The shop produces 25 varieties of pie in addition to its signature Concord grape pie, including seasonal fruit preparations sourced from area farms and savory options such as chicken pot pie and a three-cheese spinach quiche. Grape pie from Monica's carries a flavor profile shaped by the density of Naples valley Concord grapes: intensely aromatic, with a filling that approaches jam in texture after baking. The shop gained national recognition through a <a href="https://www.nytimes.com" target="_blank">New York Times</a> feature in November 2004 and subsequent coverage in Better Homes and Gardens and Country Discoveries. Jams, jellies, and local fruit conserves are also stocked. Monica's is the first or last stop on the Naples end of the <a href="https://www.google.com/maps/place/?q=place_id:ChIJkzewrJMm0YkRkWAIvdMDYZQ" target="_blank">Canandaigua Lake</a> circuit for visitors who want grape pie outside the September festival window.

The <a href="https://www.grangerhomestead.org" target="_blank">Granger Homestead</a> at 295 North Main Street in Canandaigua was built in 1816 for <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gideon_Granger" target="_blank">Gideon Granger</a>, who served as the third Postmaster General of the United States under both <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Jefferson" target="_blank">Thomas Jefferson</a> and <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Madison" target="_blank">James Madison</a>, the longest tenure in the office's early history. The Federal-style mansion holds original furnishings across two stories with guided tours of the house and grounds. The carriage museum in the outbuildings holds one of the most extensive collections of 19th-century horse-drawn vehicles in the northeastern United States: coaches, sleighs, formal carriages, and working farm equipment spanning the period from the early republic through the beginning of the automobile era. The Granger Homestead also hosts the Festival of Trees in December and a Christkindl Market in winter. Open May through October; guided tours available.

<a href="https://hazlitt1852.com" target="_blank">Hazlitt 1852 Vineyards</a> was established by Jerry and Elaine Hazlitt on a family farming tradition stretching back five generations to the mid-19th century. The Naples tasting room operates from the former Widmer Wine Cellars facility, one of the historic production sites that shaped the American public's understanding of <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Finger_Lakes" target="_blank">Finger Lakes</a> wine through the 20th century. The current portfolio balances approachable semi-sweet blends, led by Red Cat, with dry vinifera whites and reds from the surrounding hillside vineyards. Red Cat has become a commercial benchmark for the region: a semi-sweet red blend that consistently ranks among the highest-selling New York State wines by volume. The winery also maintains a scenic one-mile hiking trail through the old Widmer vineyard blocks behind the facility. Open Friday through Sunday; hours expand seasonally.

<a href="https://canandaiguanewyork.gov/219/Parks-Recreation" target="_blank">Kershaw Park</a> occupies a nine-acre stretch of Lakeshore Drive at the north end of Canandaigua Lake, adjacent to the city pier and the <a href="https://www.google.com/maps/place/?q=place_id:ChIJYxprcHkv0YkREfuzZOyTELA" target="_blank">Canandaigua Lady</a> boarding point. The park was completed in 1906 at the direction of city planners who modeled it as a public swimming school. Today the park includes a bathhouse, public dock, small craft launch, gazebo, walking paths, and picnic areas. The lakefront location makes it the most practical free public viewpoint in the city for the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ring_of_Fire_(Canandaigua_Lake)" target="_blank">Ring of Fire</a> Labor Day weekend celebration. July 4th fireworks are launched from the park. Parking is free; the swimming area operates with a lifeguard in summer; the walking paths and dock are accessible year-round.

<a href="https://www.townofcanandaigua.org/facilities/onanda-park" target="_blank">Onanda Park</a> sits on the western shore of <a href="https://www.google.com/maps/place/?q=place_id:ChIJkzewrJMm0YkRkWAIvdMDYZQ" target="_blank">Canandaigua Lake</a> on County Road 16, approximately nine miles south of the city of Canandaigua. The Town of Canandaigua operates the park, which offers a pebble beach with lifeguarded swimming in summer, kayak and small craft launch access, fishing from the shoreline, and hiking trails that climb the wooded hillside above the lake for views down the length of the water. Cabins, pavilions, and a park building are available for seasonal rental, making Onanda a practical base for a multi-day visit to the western shore. Admission fee applies during peak season; open daily from 9 a.m.

Onanda Park

<a href="https://www.ontariocountyny.gov/parks" target="_blank">Ontario County Park at Gannett Hill</a> occupies the highest terrain on the western ridge between South Bristol and Naples, accessible via Gannett Hill Park Drive off Route 64. The park sits at 2,256 feet, the highest point in Ontario County, and the summit viewpoint on clear days takes in four or five <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Finger_Lakes" target="_blank">Finger Lakes</a> across the valley system below. The park has several miles of hiking trails, a playground, a primitive camping area with tent sites and cabin rentals, and designated picnic areas. The western ridge road between <a href="https://www.google.com/maps/place/?q=place_id:ChIJXyC-kA8X0YkRzLRvV6PHEc8" target="_blank">Bristol Mountain</a> and Gannett Hill is one of the stronger drives in the region for anyone combining the south-end wine trail with outdoor access. Open year-round; no admission fee.

Ontario County Park at Gannett Hill

<a href="https://dec.ny.gov/places/high-tor-wildlife-management-area" target="_blank">High Tor Wildlife Management Area</a> encompasses the wooded hillsides and gorge systems at the southern end of Canandaigua Lake, managed by the <a href="https://dec.ny.gov" target="_blank">New York State Department of Environmental Conservation</a> for wildlife habitat and multi-use recreation. The primary hiking destination within the WMA is Conklin's Gully, also known as Parish Glen, where a creek walk through a shale-bedded streambed leads to Angel Falls, a 120-foot cascade that ranks among the taller waterfall drops in Ontario County. The approach involves a moderate-to-difficult creek walk on shale; water shoes or waterproof boots are necessary. Additional smaller falls from one to thirty feet appear along the route. The WMA also abuts Clark's Gully, a gorge system at the lake's southern tip that holds particular significance in <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seneca_Nation_of_Indians" target="_blank">Seneca</a> oral tradition as part of the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seneca_Nation_of_Indians" target="_blank">Nundawao</a> landscape. High Tor Wildlife Management Area

<a href="https://thegrapery.com" target="_blank">Arbor Hill</a> occupies a complex of vintage farm buildings on Route 64 in South Bristol, just north of Naples, on land the Brahm family has farmed for four generations. The winery opened in 1987 and expanded through the following decades as both a production facility and retail operation. The farm shop carries the full output of the Brahm agricultural enterprise: wines across the spectrum from dry to semi-sweet, alongside grape-based food products made on the premises, including grape pie, grape jelly, grape mustard, and seasonal vinegars and sauces. Arbor Hill was the first winery in the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Finger_Lakes" target="_blank">Finger Lakes region</a> to produce Traminette, an aromatic Gewurztraminer-hybrid variety that has since become a regional signature. Grape pie is available year-round at the shop, making it the practical stop for the Naples pie tradition outside the festival season. Open Thursday through Sunday.

Arbor Hill Grapery & Winery

The <a href="https://ochs.org" target="_blank">Ontario County Historical Society</a> operates a free history museum and research library on the same block as the Ontario County Courthouse in Canandaigua. The society's collections document Ontario County's recorded history from the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iroquois" target="_blank">Haudenosaunee</a> occupation through the frontier period, the Erie Canal era, and into the 20th century. The research room holds maps, photographs, newspapers, and genealogical records. The most significant item in the permanent collection is the original three-panel parchment of the 1794 <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Treaty_of_Canandaigua" target="_blank">Treaty of Canandaigua</a>, which was signed at the north end of this lake on November 11 of that year. The document is displayed for public viewing annually on November 11 as part of the Haudenosaunee Treaty Day commemoration. The society also maintains a rotating gallery of exhibits. Open Tuesday through Saturday; admission is free.

Ontario County Historical Society

<a href="https://www.sonnenberg.org" target="_blank">Sonnenberg Gardens and Mansion State Historic Park</a> occupies 52 acres on Charlotte Street in Canandaigua, three blocks from the city's main commercial strip. Frederick Ferris Thompson, a prominent New York City banker, and his wife <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mary_Clark_Thompson" target="_blank">Mary Clark Thompson</a>, daughter of New York State Governor Myron Holley Clark, purchased the land in 1863 and replaced the original farmhouse with a 40-room Queen Anne-style mansion in 1887. After her husband's death in 1899, Mary Clark Thompson commissioned nine formal gardens across the estate: an Italian terraced garden, a Japanese garden with an authentic Kyoto-style teahouse, a sunken rose garden, a Victorian Old-Fashioned Garden, and four additional themed spaces. The Lord and Burnham Greenhouse Complex, built between 1903 and 1915, is among the most significant residential conservatory complexes of its period in the country. The <a href="https://www.google.com/maps/place/?q=place_id:ChIJJ0QQdm8m0YkRsm3XArozmfk" target="_blank">Finger Lakes Wine Center</a> inside the estate offers tastings from regional producers. Open May through October; admission charged.

Bristol Valley Vineyards began with 300 vines planted in 2013 and poured its first wines in 2017. Barbara Anselm and her son Nickolas grow their grapes on-site, producing estate Rieslings, full-bodied reds from Leon Millot and Marquette, and a lineup of honey meads, including an Orange Spice Mead that won gold at the Finger Lakes International Wine and Spirits Competition. Open Wednesday through Sunday, noon to five.

<a href="https://www.heronhill.com" target="_blank">Heron Hill Winery</a> opened its first vineyards on <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keuka_Lake" target="_blank">Keuka Lake</a> in 1977 and has grown into one of the most awarded family-owned producers in the Finger Lakes. The Canandaigua Lake satellite tasting room occupies a barn built around 1920 on the western ridge above the lake. Original hand-hewn beams and high ceilings frame a tasting bar with views across the vineyard rows to the water below. The portfolio runs from the estate's signature Riesling and Chardonnay to Cabernet Franc and sparkling wines from both the Keuka and Canandaigua growing blocks. Live music and wood-fired pizza are offered on Saturdays during the season. The winery's Love Riesling, a semi-dry white, was featured in Brides Magazine. Open Thursday through Monday most of the season; call ahead in winter.
