Hans Peter Weis was born in Zell, Mosel, trained at his family’s winery, and arrived in the Finger Lakes with 11 vintages of German winemaking behind him. He purchased the former one-room schoolhouse on Day Road in 2006 and converted it into the tasting room. Weis Vineyards has won the title of New York State Winery of the Year three consecutive years — the only producer in the state to accomplish this. The portfolio centers on Riesling in multiple styles, alongside Pinot Noir, Grüner Veltliner, and ice wine. Reservations recommended on weekends.
