The Canandaigua Lady continues a tradition of passenger paddleboat service on Canandaigua Lake that ran from 1827 through 1935. The current vessel, a 65-ton double-decked sternwheeler, departs from the Canandaigua city pier at 205 Lakeshore Drive from May through October. Public cruises include excursion tours, lunch cruises, dinner cruises, and themed tasting cruises featuring local wines throughout the season. The narrated captain's commentary during excursion cruises covers the lake's natural history, the steamboat era, and the surrounding communities. A full bar and snack service are available on all departures. The Ring of Fire cruise on the Saturday before Labor Day is the most booked departure of the season; it follows the shoreline as residents light the lake-wide ring of flares at dusk. Reservations available through the Canandaigua Lady website.
