Strange Design Public House occupies the historic brick mill building that served as the Livingston County Poor House in the late 1800s. The renovation kept the original beams, brick, and hardwood floors intact while adding a modern taproom, kitchen, and outdoor seating area. As Geneseo's first brewery, the beer program leans experimental, with the Emmeline Scottish ale as a house staple alongside rotating IPAs, sours, and stouts. The kitchen runs a menu beyond typical brewpub fare: brussels sprout nachos, mockingbird fried chicken sandwich, gourmet burgers, poutine, and a rotating flatbread special. A Harvest Host program lets RV travelers stay overnight. The building's history as a poorhouse is an inescapable part of the atmosphere. Don't miss: the mockingbird fried chicken sandwich and the brussels sprout nachos, paired with a flight of house beers.
