Sandy Bottom Park is the main public-access point on Honeoye Lake, at the north end where the village meets the water. The beach is lifeguarded during summer operating hours and the swimming area fronts what is, by a reasonable margin, the warmest water in the Finger Lakes, Honeoye is shallow (30-foot maximum) and warms quickly. Beyond the beach: two playgrounds split by age group, a boat launch, picnic pavilions with grills, and a walking path along the shoreline. Basketball and tennis courts round out the recreation area. Fishing is encouraged: bass, trout, and perch. Don't miss: a July weekday afternoon at the beach, when the water is at its warmest and the summer crowd is thinnest. Pack a picnic, the pavilions are first-come.
