The National Warplane Museum sits on the Geneseo airfield and holds one of the strongest regional WWII aviation collections in the Northeast, including restored aircraft that fly. The annual Geneseo Airshow each July is the signature event: a weekend of warbird demonstrations, aerobatics, and static displays that draws aviation enthusiasts from across the Northeast. The museum runs year-round with shorter winter hours. Volunteer docents, many of them veteran commercial pilots, walk visitors through the collection and, when the aircraft are flight-ready, take visitors up for rides during operating season. Admission is modest. Don't miss: the WASP (Women Airforce Service Pilots) exhibit, and any flight-ready aircraft offering rides during your visit.
