Millard Fillmore Birthplace Cabin (replica)

1965 replica of Fillmore's birthplace cabin inside Fillmore Glen State Park

Cayuga County

The Millard Fillmore birthplace replica cabin sits just inside the main entrance of Fillmore Glen State Park. Built in 1965 by the Millard Fillmore Memorial Association using materials from a period-appropriate donor cabin, the structure stands about five miles from the actual 1800 birth site in the Summerhill wilderness. An interpretive sign explains Fillmore's early life, law apprenticeship in Montville, and rise through New York politics to the presidency (served 1850 to 1853 after the death of Zachary Taylor). The replica is free to enter during park operating hours.
