Hemlock Canoe Works is a single-builder shop where Dave Curtis has been designing and hand-laying canoes for decades. The Peregrine is the signature model: a versatile touring canoe with excellent secondary stability that's earned a following among Finger Lakes paddlers who know what to look for in a boat. The shop is open Saturdays only during the warmer months. Dave runs occasional demo events at Hemlock Lake where visitors can try boats on the water. For paddlers who've been renting and are ready to buy, it's the most personal buying experience available in the region, every conversation with Dave includes 50 years of boat knowledge and a frank assessment of what you actually need.
