The Skaneateles Dickens Christmas festival has run on weekends from Thanksgiving through Christmas Eve since the late 1980s, drawing visitors from across the region specifically for the street experience. Costumed Dickens characters work the village, including Scrooge, the Cratchits, and various carol-singing ensembles stationed along Genesee Street and in the shops. Carriage rides, tree lightings, and a program of indoor performances in the village's historic venues complement the outdoor character. Free to attend; the commercial block accommodates high volumes of visitors without requiring advance tickets for most components.
