Castel Grisch has been farming a 200-acre hillside property above Seneca Lake since 1983, with 30 of those acres under vine across 14 different grape varieties. The wine list reflects that range: fine vinifera including Riesling in multiple styles, Gewürztraminer, Syrah, and Chardonnay sit alongside Cornell hybrids like Cayuga White and Traminette, native varieties, and both a red and a white sparkling wine. Tastings run either staff-guided or flight-style depending on how much conversation you want. The view from the property is panoramic and largely unobstructed. For groups of 16 to 40, private large-group tastings are available by reservation at $10 per person, held in a designated indoor space with crackers, cheese, and chocolate included.
Don't miss: asking for the guided format, which is worth it when the person across the bar knows all 14 varieties by name.
