Canadice Lake Outfitters is the small, family-run operation that makes it possible to paddle Canadice Lake without owning a kayak or having to strap one to the car. The boats are pre-staged at the shoreline launch on Canadice Lake Road with life vests, paddles, and a release form. Reservations are taken by phone the day before for most summer weekends. Canadice is 3 miles long, no development, no power boats above 10 horsepower, and clearer water than any of the other Finger Lakes because it's Rochester's drinking source. It's the most reliably quiet paddle in the region. Don't miss: an early morning rental on a summer weekday, when the water is glass and the chance of seeing a bald eagle is real.
