Books & Fields is the quieter of Perry's two bookstores, an owner-operated used bookshop that runs on weekends only. The inventory is well-organized and kept in superb condition, pricing is reasonable, and the range runs from contemporary fiction and mysteries to rare and out-of-print titles that regular visitors come specifically to browse. Mr. Bickel, the owner, is deeply knowledgeable and happy to help visitors track down a specific title or work through a new area of interest. It's a used bookstore that feels curated rather than accumulated. Don't miss: ask at the counter if you're looking for something specific. Many of the best titles never make it to the shelves.
