Ninety-foot Carpenter Falls and a wheelchair-accessible boardwalk to the lake
Bahar Preserve and Carpenter Falls Unique Area together protect the Bear Swamp Creek gorge on the west side of Skaneateles Lake. Carpenter Falls drops 90 feet over shale and limestone. A 630-foot elevated boardwalk completed in 2022 makes the top of the falls wheelchair accessible to the main observation platform. The Old Jug Path descends 1.1 miles along the south rim to 65 feet of lakeshore owned by the Finger Lakes Land Trust. Inducted into the Old-Growth Forest Network in 2023. Parking at Appletree Point Road and Carver Road in Niles, Cayuga County. Free access.
