Hector

East shore stop and access to the Finger Lakes National Forest

Hector is a township rather than a village, a wide stretch of the east shore between Burdett to the south and Lodi to the north, with vineyards visible on nearly every hillside. Red Newt Cellars is here, with a bistro that makes it a legitimate lunch stop as well as a tasting room. Hazlitt 1852 Vineyards has been farming this land since its name implies. The Finger Lakes National Forest headquarters is on Route 414 in Hector, the entry point for 16,000 acres of trails between Seneca and Cayuga Lakes.
