Hammondsport

Aviation history, wine heritage, and lakefront activity

Hammondsport takes twenty minutes to walk completely, and those twenty minutes pass the Glenn H. Curtiss Museum, the Pleasant Valley Wine Company, the entry road to Dr. Frank's estate, and Depot Park at the water's edge. Two American origin stories, one village square. The square is the social anchor: a gazebo, Victorian-era storefronts, and free live music Thursday evenings in July and August.

The Park Inn operates from the village's oldest building with an 8-acre organic farm, a 300-bottle wine list weighted toward Finger Lakes producers alongside cool-climate bottles from elsewhere, and the full dinner menu served at the bar. The Village Tavern, on the square since the 19th century and under new ownership since 2023, carries a New Orleans-inflected kitchen in a century-old bar room. The Point of the Bluff Farmers Market runs Thursday evenings June through September, combining wine tasting, live music, and fresh produce from Glenn Scott Farm.
