Seneca Falls

Women's rights history, National Women's Hall of Fame

Seneca Falls holds the Women's Rights National Historical Park across two sites: the Wesleyan Chapel on Fall Street, where the 1848 convention was held, and Elizabeth Cady Stanton's house on Washington Street, ten minutes from the chapel on foot. The NPS visitor center on Fall Street has the best orientation to the full reform network before you walk the sites. The National Women's Hall of Fame, which moved to a larger Fall Street facility in 2020, is a block from the visitor center.

The town itself is a small Finger Lakes city with a functioning main street and a waterfront on the Cayuga-Seneca Canal, the waterway that linked these two largest lakes to the Erie Canal system. Seneca Falls is 20 minutes east of Geneva on Route 20 and makes a natural half-day or full-day addition to any Geneva-based itinerary. It is not a wine country town, but it is the essential stop on any Finger Lakes trip that takes the reform corridor seriously.
